1. What is Artsphere?

Artsphere is the UK Creative Arts Directory for all those involved in the Creative Arts Industry. There are three directories covering creative arts practitioners, businesses and educators. Artsphere also features Job Opportunities, Arts News and an Events Diary to keep you up to date with the UK Creative Arts Scene.

2. Who is Artsphere for?

3. Why can’t I see all the contact details in the directory?

To see these details you need to sign up as a Member of Artsphere.

We operate this policy to protect Directory Member’s contact information and to discourage spam. Should you receive any spam messages via the site, please inform us immediately via the contact page.

4. Why should I Sign Up?

You don’t have to sign up to carry out a search of the three Directories. However, for Data Protection and security reasons, you will not be able to view all the details in a listing or create your own listing.

Signing up gives you access to:
Full details of all the listings in each Directory, making your
search more efficient and therefore faster. You can also
post creative arts jobs, your own news and events, boosting
local and national awareness of your own service or
product to a targeted audience.

Signing up allows you to:
Create your own Standard and Premium Directory Listing,
allowing your product or service to be found by those
searching for you.

5. How do I contact people once I have signed up?

Via the contact details provided.

Please mention Artsphere in any initial contact you make with a practitioner / business / organisation. This enables the them to monitor the effectiveness of their Artsphere Listing.

6. How do I choose what you send to me?

Every Signed Up member of Artsphere has an Account Area which allows you to choose what you receive from us.

The only sent information you cannot opt out of are our Service Announcement emails. These are only sent if there are changes in our Terms and Conditions, or other changes to Artsphere which we deem necessary to make you aware of. As such, Service Announcements are sent very rarely.

7. Do I have to pay?

No. Signing up is free. Once you are signed up, searching the directories, accessing full details of listings, posting job adverts, news and/or events are also free.

You only pay if you would like to create a Premium Directory Entry.

There are other services that you may want to use which also require payment (for example, advertising with us, web design and web hosting) however you are invited to ask for a no obligation quote should you require any of these services.

8. What is a Standard Directory Listing?

A Standard Directory Listing with Artsphere allows you to enter certain details about you / your work / your business and/or organisation on a generic profile page.

As a Practitioner you can provide details on your skills, experience, your biography and other information, and use certain facilities, for example:

  • You can upload 1 image
  • Include a link to your website
  • Information on your skills
  • A brief biography/description
  • Request Job alert emails
  • Use the News Service & Events Diary either to post your own or see what’s happening across the UK
  • Post Jobs across our 7 Creative Arts Jobs Websites.

As a business you can give a description of your products and services, as well as being listed under numerous relevant categories, and use certain facilities, for example:

  • You can upload 1 image
  • Give a brief description of your product/service
  • Give brief information such as your location and phone number.
  • Use the News Service & Events Diary either to post your own or see what’s happening across the UK
  • Post Jobs across our 7 Creative Arts Jobs Websites.

As an Educator/Education Institution you can give a description of your focus/work and use certain facilities, for example:

  • You can upload 1 image
  • Include a link to your website
  • Give a brief biography/description of your work
  • Give brief information such as your location, phone number and email
  • Use the News Service & Events Diary either to post your own or see what’s happening across the UK
  • Post Jobs across our 7 Creative Arts Jobs Websites.

9. What is a Premium Directory Listing?

A Premium Listing is created by using your Standard Listing as a basis, you then add more information on your work, product or service. This increased amount of  detail brings your listing up more frequently in search results and is designed to attract further serious investigation from your potential client.

Your listing will also appear above Standard Listings when search results are displayed, so that your product and/or service can be found faster than a Standard Listing.

Your Listing is upgraded from a generic profile page to a Dedicated Profile page which can be found via search engines, as well as those searching in Artsphere.

It will also be viewed across Artsphere’s pages as a Random Feature, attracting the attention of those browsing the site.

As a Premium Listing Member of Artsphere, you are also entitled to substantial discounts on advertising across the site and in our eNewsletter, to bring more business to you. [more about advertising]

Premium Listings for Practitioners allow you to:

  • Upload up to  4 images as well as your main Profile Image
  • Upload up to 3 MP3 files
  • Upload up to 3 video files
  • Upload a comprehensive CV & Biography file
  • Include a link to your website
  • Provide information on your skills
  • Request Job alert emails
  • Use the News Service & Events Diary either to post your own or see what’s happening across the UK
  • Post Jobs across our 7 Creative Arts Jobs Websites.

 

Premium Listings for Businesses allow you to:

  • Include a link to your website
  • Include your email address
  • Give a full description of your product/service
  • Give information such as your location and phone number.
  • Use the News Service & Events Diary either to post your own or see what’s happening across the UK
  • Post Jobs across our 7 Creative Arts Jobs Websites.

Premium Listings for Educators/Education Institutions allow you to:

  • Upload up to  4 images as well as your main Profile Image
  • Upload up to 3 MP3 files
  • Upload up to 3 video files
  • Upload a comprehensive CV / Biography / About file
  • Add training / courses to Artsphere’s searchable database
  • Add workshops to Artsphere’s searchable database
  • Include a link to your website
  • Give information such as your location, phone number and email

10. When and how do I pay for my Premium Listing?

You can pay for your Premium Listing in full when you upgrade from a Standard Listing.

Payment is made securely by credit/debit card via PayPal.

You will receive a Sales Receipt via email when your payment has been confirmed. Once payment is confirmed, your Premium Listing will go online.

11. Do I have to remain a Premium Directory Listing?

No. You can become a Premium Directory Listing for 3 months or a year, depending on your preference and budget allowance.

If you decide to terminate your Premium Listing after the time period you have chosen, you will revert to a Standard Listing.

However, should you wish to upgrade to a Premium Listing again, your additional details will be saved and you will be able to edit details if necessary.

Artsphere Discounts are only available during the time in which you are a Premium Member and will revert back to Standard Prices if you terminate your Premium Listing. This is applicable to any long term advertisements / web hosting / web design / etc you may buy from Artsphere (see Terms and Conditions).

We recommend that you only delete a Listing permanently if your work/business/organisation is no longer active in any way. Your details will then be removed from our database and should you sign up again you will need to re-enter all details.

12. How many of the three Directories can I be listed in?

Artsphere has three Directories:

  • Creative Arts Practitioners
  • Creative Arts Businesses
  • Creative Arts Education

You can be a Standard or Premium Member of one, two or all three Directories. The more Directories you are in, the more times your listing will be brought up in searches.

13. How long will it take me to create my listing?

A Standard Listing in one directory can take between five and ten minutes to create, depending on the amount of information you decide to include.

A Premium Listing in one directory can take an additional five to ten minutes, again dependant upon the about of information you include.

14. Why do I need to give so much detail for my listing?

The more detail, the more searches will return with your listing.

The comprehensive details also allow those searching the Directories to find closer matches to what they are looking for, and in less time than when using other methods.

15. What if my details change?

A big advantage of Artsphere is you can update your Standard or Premium Listing whenever you want, allowing your potential clients to find up-to-date information about you, and what you can do for them.

You can do this from your Account Area.

16. Can I email you if I want to update or change something?

Your Account Area allows you to change any details you have listed with us. Once logged in you will find links to the updates section.

We are unable to change your details following an email from you for Data Protection reasons.

17. How do I let people know that I’m listed in Artsphere?

There are various ways of letting people know you are listed in Artsphere. You can:

  • Link to Artsphere from your website.
  • Use our logo in your company literature and/or publicity material.
  • Include us in the signature line of your emails.

18. What if my work / business / organisation ceases to exist?

We recommend that you only delete a Listing permanently if your work/business/organisation is no longer active in any way. Your details will then be removed from our database and should you sign up again you will need to re-enter all details.

If you have purchased a Premium Listing or any other product or service that Artsphere offers, you will not be entitled to a full or part refund if your work, business or organisation ceases to exist (see Terms and Conditions).

19. Can I send you Press Releases, Event information, Job Adverts, etc?

This information should be posted on our Arts News, Events Diary and/or Job Advertising facilities. This information is then available to all who visit Artsphere.

We do not circulate any emails containing such information as our communication system is designed to only provide Members with the information they have requested.

20. Why do I have to be signed up to post Job Adverts, News and Events?

So that your posting can be live on Artsphere as soon as you post it.

In the past we had to check and approve each new posting before allowing it to go live online as members were not signed up.

As a signed up member you have agreed to our Terms and Conditions of Use which include a requirement that you only post appropriate material on Artsphere. This allows you to post relevant news, events and jobs with Artsphere and your audience will see them online immediately.

21. How do I post events, news and job adverts?

To post events, news or jobs on Artsphere you need to sign up as a Member of Artsphere.

Your Account Area contains a link allowing you to post events and news.

22. When and how do I pay for Advertising / Web Design / Web Hosting?

23. How many people use Artsphere?

Since our launch in 2006, we have had well over a million visitors and over 1000 people/businesses/organisations opt to receive our monthly eNewsletter. This has been in response to a limited service.

Following our re-launch in February 2008, we anticipate even greater interest and usage of the improved site and it’s services. We will begin publishing more comprehensive statistics of Directory Listings, visitors and eNewsletter recipients later in 2008.

24. How do I tell you what I think about Artsphere?

You can contact us via the Contact Page.

We always welcome your thoughts and comments and use them to improve the service we provide.

If you would like to pay us a compliment, we may ask to use it on our Testimonials Page and in our email communications – our way of saying thank you and increasing your publicity.

If you have a complaint, please be assured that it will be given our full attention and a reply will be sent to you within fourteen working days.

25. What is the definition of a Practitioner on Artsphere?

A Practitioner is a person who practices an occupation, a profession, or a technique in the Creative Arts.

26. What is the definition of a Business on Artsphere?

A Business is an individual, group of people or an organisation who are engaged in a commercial occupation, work, or trade in the Creative Arts. They may also have industrial, or professional involvements or dealings in or with the Creative Arts

For the purposes of the Business Directory, a Business may also include a charity, amateur and/or semi-professional organisation within the Creative Arts.

27. What is the definition of Education / Educator on Artsphere?

Education or Educator refers to an individual or organisation proficient in leading or providing a program of instruction of a specified kind or level in the Creative Arts.

28. What is the definition of a Listing on Artsphere?

A Practitioner, Business and/or Education  entry in any of the three Directories on Artsphere.

29. What is the definition of a Discipline on Artsphere?

A Discipline is any one of the following:

  • Music
  • Dance
  • Drama
  • Art
  • Literature
  • Crew

Disciplines may also be referred to as Art Forms.

30. Can I let people know I have expertise and experience in more than one discipline?

Yes. Unlike most Directories, Artsphere recognises that most Practitioners are proficient in several disciplines. For example: an actor may also be a good musician and artist.

If you are proficient in more than one discipline, you can be listed in several Art Forms in the Creative Arts Directory. For example: if you are a musician with skills in acting and writing, you can be listed under all three Art Forms of Music, Drama and Literature.

This increases your chances of being listed in search results.
