DIGITAL STAGES is a new festival of performing arts and digital media organised by multimedia company GLAZ (www.glaz.co.uk) that takes place from 22 to 27 April 2011 in a number of East London venues including Stratford Circus, Hoxton Hall, Queen Mary University of London and IPAD Dance lab at Trinity Buoy Wharf.
The festival presents performances, discussions, workshops and exhibitions, bringing together distinctive scholars, modern artists and experts in digital technology from all over the UK, as well as Russia, Brazil, USA and Canada. The participants include Frieder Weiss (Germany), Sarah Rubidge (UK), Sally Jane Norman (UK), Troika Ranch (USA), Assimetrique Answer (Russia), Lightwork (UK), Collective (gulp) dance projects (Canada), Zecora Ura/Para Active (UK/Brazil) and Chameleons Group (UK), who during the course of the festival will establish a new major platform for creative and innovative thinking and practice surrounding the use of digital technologies in performing arts.
“Digital Stages is a particularly welcome development for independent artists involved in the dialogue between performance and digital media. Through its provision of a public platform for both emerging and established artists in smaller scale professional theatres and galleries it reclaims the territory for experimental artistic practice.”
Sarah Rubidge, Consultant for Digital Stages 2011, Professor of Choreography and New Media, University of Chichester.
