From Friday 9th to Wednesday 14th April, a group of students from Bodens Studios performing arts school in Barnet will be bringing you an original, energetic and magical production of William Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.
The show has been produced to make it as accessible as it can be to a mainstream audience, and under the direction of Anna Sternberg is designed to be more than a performance, but altogether an experience.
Our entire building is being used for the performances, both inside and out. On arrival the audience are guided through a prelude; the Athenian’s preparation for the wedding of Theseus and Hippolyta, before arriving in the courtyard where the characters return from a hunt and begin Act One in the grounds of a 1920 stately home. For Act Two as our lovers Hermia and Lysander flee to the woods, the audience is transported into our theatre, which under the control of designer Alison Drake has been transformed into the magical moonlight woodland where Shakespeare’s tale unfolds.
With an incredibly talented cast of children and young adults, this fresh, exciting and original production of one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies aims to accommodate younger audiences, Shakespeare veterans and newcomers alike. Tickets are available through Bodens main website or on 020 8447 0909.
